Stories from the Heart

Stories touch the heart. Why can someone tell a story that is centuries old and yet, when it is retold, it seems fresh as morning dew? Good stories touch our souls. They make us laugh; they make us cry. They teach us truths we already know, but need to hear again.

Why does a storyteller tell stories? I think it is because the stories he or she tells have first touched their hearts and made them laugh or cry or reintroduced them to an eternal truth. We repeat stories and the cycle goes on.

Welcome to stories from my heart to yours....

I am a member and past president of the Backporch Storytellers of Charleston, SC. We are dedicated to the promotion, perpetuation and preservation of the age old art of storytelling and especially promote the unique stories of the South Carolina Sea Islands and Low Country. Equally important is our club’s outreach to local students, the future of storytelling.

I enjoy telling stories to local students of all ages and tailor performances for the differing needs of Elementary, Middle school, and High school students. I have conducted storytelling workshops at schools and I have been a feature teller numerous times at the Live Oak Storytelling Festival , Halloween Festivals and Ghost Walks . I have told stories at Piccolo Spoleto Children’s Festival, the First Night Celebration at Charleston, I tell at Tellebration in Summerville, SC, and was a feature teller at festivals such as Andrews Gospel and Storytelling Festival at Andrews, SC, and the Patchwork Storytelling Festival in Rock Hill, SC. I tell at coffee shop and book store engagements, conventions, church gatherings and scouting functions. I am a CTM (Competent Toastmaster) and ATM-B(Able Toastmaster- Bronze) in Toastmasters International.

I can provide programs to meet the needs of your group.
